Please note: We have paused our expression of interest process for our mentoring programs, and will be re-opening applications soon. In the meantime, if you live in the inner west and are looking for support to understand your training, education or employment options, we encourage you to speak to the team at the VU Skills and Jobs Centre. The transition from school to the next phase of life and career is difficult, and we know many local young people face additional barriers to employment. Research shows having a clear pathway into meaningful and long-term employment is essential for young people to attain financial security, independence, a sense of belonging and wellbeing. We’re here to help you find your passion, explore opportunities and kick start your career.

How we help

For secondary students, we have a broad range of in-school programs and opportunities that provide inspiration and practical experience towards your career pathway. Your teacher can learn more about our programs below.

For young people looking for help post-school, the Youth Mentoring Career Pathways (YMCP) program offers three opportunities to launch your career with mentoring, work placements and skill building workshops. Simply complete the application below to get started! This program is also available to a small number of students that are finding engaging with the school system difficult. If this is you, have a chat with your careers teacher and parents and they can contact us.

Beyond our support programs, we encourage all young people to check out Youth Hub, our one-stop shop of valuable information and resources for life after school. It includes advice on careers, jobs, further education, other local support services and finding youth employment.
