The YMCP program gives young people who have barriers to employment a chance to develop professional networks, learn new skills and gain hands-on experience to kick-start their career.
This unique approach to mentoring, work placement and career support ensures that the needs and interests of each participating young person are met, opening up a world of positive possibilities.

What's involved?

Mentor program

Young people are carefully matched with a volunteer Mentor from a professional background. Mentors work with their mentee (young person) for a minimum of nine months on activities relating to their study or employment goals such as:
• resume writing
• job finding
• interview preparation
• English practise
• goal setting
• navigating recruitment customs
and more.

• 10-day placement can be undertaken 1 day per week or in blocks
• a payment of $20 per day to cover travel and lunch expenses.

Skill Building Workshops

Our regular workshops provide professional and personal development opportunities to help participants thrive in the world of work. We discuss a broad range of topics including:
• job readiness
• career and life coaching
• discovering your passion
• self-care and wellbeing.

These workshops also allow participants to connect with others, sharing their related experiences and expanding professional networks.

Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I was looking for guidance to help me get over the difficult phase. My mentor guided me with all his knowledge and insights. I also attended multiple online workshops hosted by mmvllen. All these experiences certainly helped me polish my communication and leadership skills, and all thanks to the amazing members/mentors from mmvllen.
